ITB Lead the Way for Young Women In Technology

In January, 40 transition year students from Dublin 15 took part in ITB's Young Women in Technology Project. The project, which is now in its sixth year, encourages young females to consider computing, engineering and technology related career paths. The innovative project involves interactive activities, presentations, role model talks and industry visits, all delivered by women working and studying in these fields.

Transition year students from Castleknock Community College, Hartstown Community School, Blakestown Community School and Luttrellstown Community College took part in the three-day project during which they took part in computing and creative digital media clinics along with engineering workshops and field trips to leading ICT company Ericsson in Clonskeagh and the ESB power station in Turlough Hill, Co. Wicklow.

The aim of the programme is to increase applications from females from local schools onto engineering and computing third level courses.
